Hattiesburg Hall of Fame seeks nominees

(The following is a press release from the Hattiesburg Hall of Fame.)

Through its selection of an annual Hall of Fame, the Hattiesburg Public School District Foundation acknowledges the contributions of the alumni from the Hub City’s legacy public schools. Students who finished their last year on the campus of these schools are eligible for inclusion in the Hattiesburg Hall of Fame.

The Foundation invites the public to give input regarding future Hattiesburg Hall of Fame nominations. For more information on nominations and sponsorships, interested parties should go to

According to President Jerome Brown, “Public participation will help to ensure that future classes are equally diverse when it comes to race, age, gender and career paths.” All nominations will be presented to the Selection Committee regardless of how many times a name is submitted. Only one nomination is needed for an alumnus to be considered by the committee and eventually inducted. “This helps dispel the notion of inductees being recognized solely because of popularity,” Brown observed.

The Hattiesburg Hall of Fame Committee’s recommendations for future inductees will be presented to the HPSDF Board of Directors, which is ultimately responsible for the final annual selections. This year’s Homecoming Week event is scheduled for Thursday, October 7.
