(The following is a press releasing from the Hattiesburg Public School District.)

Hattiesburg High School is holding the Annual Homecoming Parade and Community Pep Rally on Thursday, September 23rd.

The parade line up will begin at 4:30 PM at Hawkins Elementary School. The Community Pep Rally will begin no later than 6:15 PM, where the Homecoming King will be crowned.

The parade will use its usual route, line up at Hawkins Elementary School and ending at Hattiesburg High School.

The parade route will begin on Hardy Street that intersects with Forrest Street. The parade will go westbound onto Hardy Street and make a right on Hutchinson Avenue, ending at Hattiesburg High School. The Homecoming Pep Rally will take place at D.I. Patrick Stadium immediately following the parade.

Event Organizer Marlena Jenkins is more than excited to unveil the new additions to this year’s Homecoming Court.

“I was grateful to come back and pick up where I left off, and I really enjoy helping where I can.” Ms. Jenkins has worked with Hattiesburg Public Schools for over 10 years and is organizing this year’s Homecoming Parade and Community Pep Rally.

“This is our first year having a male court, and we call them Royals. We have four young men, a freshman, junior, senior and then a prince. Also, Men’s Warehouse in Hattiesburg contributed by giving Hattiesburg High School a great deal on the Royals’ tuxedos.”

The Royals will participate in the parade and be introduced during the Community Pep Rally.

“The traditional Homecoming Court will take place during half-time of the football game, and the Homecoming Queen will be crowned. After the Queen is recognized, the Queen and King will be announced and recognized on the field for photos,” said Jenkins. The Hattiesburg Tigers versus Natchez Bulldogs game will be on September 24, 2021, at 7:00 PM.
