Laurel's VMM prepares for Memorial Day commemoration

(The following is a press release from the Veterans Memorial Museum in Laurel)

The Veterans Memorial Museum will be hosting its annual Memorial Day Commemoration at 10:00 a.m. on May 30, 2022. The ceremony will be held outdoors, and refreshments will be served in the VMM meeting room immediately following the program.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Laurel native Dr. John Knox Helveston. Dr. Knox, who is an international missionary, has ministered to churches in Illinois, Florida, California, the Philippines, and with English speaking churches in Europe and Central America. He and his wife are the Missionaries in Residence at First Baptist Church, Laurel, Mississippi.

Music for this year’s ceremony will be provided by local music personality James Ducker.

This program is open to the public and we would like to issue a very special invitation to all local veterans, those currently serving in uniform, and Gold Star Mothers & Families.
