Local shelters opening ahead of Ida


Ahead of Hurricane Ida, the following shelters are open.


\ Forrest County: The 361 Shelter located at 946 Sullivan Dr in Hattiesburg is open.


\ Forrest County: The Sigler Center, located at 315 Conti Street in Hattiesburg, is open for those who have COVID-19 currently and are quarantined but do not need medical care.


\ Jones County: 361 FEMA Shelter at 1425 Ellisville Blvd. in Laurel is open.


\ Lamar County: The Safe Room/Shelter located at 105 Central Industrial Row in Purvis is open.


\ Marion County: The Red Cross is setting up a shelter at First UMC Wesley Center.


\ Pearl River County: The Poplarville Safe Room at 124 Rodeo St. in Poplarville is open.


\ Stone County: Stone Elementary School at 1652 East Central Avenue in Wiggins is open.


\ Stone County: The State Medical Needs Shelter at 1640 Coy Avenue in Wiggins is open.


MEMA says masks must be worn at all shelters due to the pandemic. "If you do not have a mask, one will be provided," MEMA added.
