Schools close, dismiss early, move to virtual learning due to Zeta

CITY SCHOOL DISTRICTS
Petal: Early dismissal Wednesday. Grades K-6 will dismiss at 1:30 p.m., grades 7-12 will release at 3 p.m. All after-school activities and practices canceled Wednesday.
Richton: Thursday will be a virtual day for students -- with work sent to pupils before the end of the school day Wednesday and/or Google Classroom.
COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICTS
Forrest County: Will have a distance learning day for all students Thursday.
Perry County: Will have a distance learning day for all students Thursday.
Wayne County: Will have a distance learning day for all students Thursday.
PRIVATE AND OTHER SCHOOLS
FCAHS: The agricultural high school will move to distance learning Thursday.
Sacred Heart Catholic School: Will be closed Thursday.
Wayne Academy: Dismissed early Wednesday; students will not attend classes in-person Thursday.
Word of Faith Christian Academy: Will be closed Thursday.
COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES
Southern Miss: All campuses will close at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Hattiesburg campus residence halls will remain open; dining halls will close at 3 p.m. Students who live on campus can pick up to-go meals from The Fresh before 3 p.m.
William Carey University's Main Hattiesburg Campus: Will close at 3 p.m. on Wednesday and classes will move to an online format. Offices and classes will resume normal operation on Thursday morning at 8 a.m.
William Carey University's Tradition Campus: The Biloxi-based campus will move to an online schedule beginning at noon on Wednesday and resume normal operation at noon on Thursday.
