Nick Mullens and the Golden Eagles Are on a Roll

Hattiesburg, MS - In case you haven't noticed, the Golden Eagles have been ballin' this year. It's been four years since Southern Miss fans seen their football team produce this many wins and quarterback Nick Mullens is very happy to have the fan support.

USM Quarterback, Nick Mullens said, "To see all the support is awesome. I'm really thankful for it and that's why we try to make Southern Miss fans proud. Southern Miss gave me this opportunity to play football and I try to represent the university the best I can."

Statistically, Mullens has represented Southern Miss very well. So far this season, Mullens has thrown for over 3200 yards, dished out 30 touchdowns to only seven interceptions, and did I mention he's second in conference with a 160 quarterback rating. Mullens tells me how he’s been able to have success this year.

Mullens said, "I think it's really just a matter of staying relaxed and staying focused. I think that's one thing I improved on really, just mentally, being able to control the moment instead of letting the moment control me."

The offense has been on fire and Nick Mullens is first to give credit to the men who allow the offense to move.

Mullens said, "We're really clicking on all cylinders right now. The o-line does a great job. I was talking with them the other day, they don't get enough credit. All the playmakers have gotten so much credit this year. Brandon Farmer, Rashod Hill, Cameron Tom, all the guys up front, they do a great job."

Due to the team's success, the Golden Eagles are now bowl eligible, but you can bet your money that Mullens and the Golden Eagles have their eyes on something else.

Mullens said, "It's an incredible opportunity to be able to go to a bowl game. But at the same time, conference championship is our next goal. It's the biggest goal, it's the most important goal. It's a goal that everybody has their sights on, and that's what we're chasing now."
