Residents are traveling miles for Thanksgiving

HATTIESBURG, Miss - According to AAA an estimate 46.9 million Americans are expected to take a car, plane, bus, or train at least 50 miles from home over the long holiday weekend.

Kryssalyn Bane says, "We are going back to Houston, Texas and we are going to have a big Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow with all our family and friends. Marshae Pelt mentions, "I will be in Alabama with my family shopping, I will be enjoying the holidays after we enjoy dinner together we are planning to watch the University of Alabama take on the Auburn Tigers football game."

Thanksgiving is also bringing the college students back home. Krystn Williams says, "Going back to Houston, Texas to catch up with family for Thanksgiving tell them how I have been doing in college."

While others are planning to go away to see family, some are hosting the big event here at home.

David Beverly says, "I'm sorry for my neice Laquisha, I love you, she was not able to make this Thanksgiving, but we all love you. We're going to miss you."

This year there has been an increase of around 300,00 people traveling compared to last year. It is clear with the low gas prices people are hitting the roads to see their family and friends.
