HPD responds after two bomb threats
HATTIESBURG, Miss - Early Friday morning the Hattiesburg Police Department received a phone call from Channel Control Merchants of two suspected bomb threats.
An unknown suspect called Channel Control Merchants claiming of a bomb inside the business, also mentioning of a second bomb at the Cloverleaf Mall.
HPD informed businesses inside the mall of the threat.
Lt. Traxler states, "Generally we notify whatever business is there, at the end of the day the business decides whether to evacuate or not. We did that with each one of the business inside of the mall and they elected to evacuate their facilities."
K9 dogs were relased at both locations and no bomb was recovered. Business resumed after two hours.
"Any type of bomb threat is a felony...we are tracking down the suspect" Lt. Traxler says.
The police department is still investigating as the two threats are clearly connected.
