City is promoting green friendly environment

HATTIESBURG, Miss - The Public Works Department is urging residents to be mindful of their recycle and trash this holiday season.

The department is hoping to be an environmental friendly city. Hattiesburg's Sustainability Officer, Nkrumah Frazier says, " We are trying to encourage everyone in the city to recycle. We think that recycling is really important for our community. Not only does it divert trash from our landfills, but it reduces the amount of landfill space that we use. But it also helps the environment, it helps us to be a little more environmental friendly and have a much smaller impact on the environment."

The city is holding a Stuff-A-Truck recycle event next Monday the 28th at Kamper Park from 9 AM - 2 PM.

Residents are encouraged to participate and bring their holiday recyclables instead of throwing them away.
