Forrest General receives prestigious award

FORREST COUNTY, Miss - According to a press release, Forrest General Hospital has received an influential international recognition as a baby-friendly designated birth facility.

The hospital is the first ever in Mississippi to receive this honor. The press release says,"The criterion is designed to set the standards for the best possible breastfeeding support for mother and infant in the maternity setting."

The baby-friendly hospital initiative is a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), it encourages and recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies, says the press release.
