Hub City hit-and-run, suspect charged

HATTIESBURG, Miss - Gregory Helton, 27, is charged with felony eluding police, after a Thursday afternoon hit-and-run.

The incident occured on Highway 49 and Eddy Street. A description was given to police and officers chased Helton on Highway 49.

According to the Hattiesburg Police Department, Helton was apprehended by the Shrimp Basket Restaurant across the Southern Miss campus.

Brandon McLemore of HPD said, "The suspect said the main reason he left the accident is because he had no insurance."
