City council hoping to purchase new tracking software
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The city of Hattiesburg's complete audit from 2014 is now available and city council President, Kim Bradley mentions that the software used to track and maintain records may be causing a discrepancy during the auditing process.
The software tracks the cities general funds and the money that is received and disbursed within the city.
One of the findings reveals that the software system is not able to produce certain financial information that is necessary.
Bradley mentioned the council is hoping to look for a new computer software.
"I am sure that there will be some talk of purchasing new software, it is easier said than done."
Bradley added that the city would have to take the current information out of the the system and load into a the new system.
He said, "It is very time consuming, but it is something that we are going to have to look at."
The council has not looked at any current prices for new software systems, but is hoping to do so soon.
