MDOT employees compete in annual "District Rodeo"

Hattiesburg, Miss. - The Forrest County Multi-Purpose Center was filled with a lot of MDOT workers on Thursday.

But these people were not having a typical work day.

State maintenance engineer, Heath Patterson said, "This is our annual 'District Rodeo' here in Hattiesburg. It's a chance for our maintenance personnel to come together in some good honest competition to better own their skills as they work adjacent to traffic, so everyone is safer."

The 200 Forrest County district employees competed in a variety of events.

"There are three truck events: the low-boy, the tandem axle, and the single axle we're they'll compete in parallel park, stop-line, straight-line, and an alley-doc problems. There's also the motor grader and backhoe competition as well as the tractor with mower, said Patterson."

The two winners from each event will travel to Tupelo in June, where they will compete in the state competition.
