Hattiesburg city council closer to purchasing land to treat wastewater
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Hattiesburg City Council called a special meeting last Thursday to authorize the city to borrow $25 million to buy land to treat its wastewater.
City Council President, Kim Bradley, said, "We have the money now in place, the city cannot enter into a contract to purchase anything, unless it can show the means to pay."
The council has set the rate structure which will repay the $25 million, the money will begin to purchase the land and to buy it from the engineering company that has designed the system.
