Woman dies after fatal shooting in Lamar county

LAMAR COUNTY, Miss. - Lamar county officials arrested Breanna Conerly, 25, of Columbia after a Saturday shooting on Shears Road.

Authorities are investing the motive behind the shooting that sent Iesha Magee, 24, to Merit Wesley hospital.

Sheriff Danny Rigal mentioned Magee died from a gun shot wound to her abdomen.

"We are still investigating part of it, we understand there were several people around when the incident happened, and we are still interviewing them now" said Sheriff Rigal.

Sheriff Rigal mentioned Conerly is being charged with murder.

This is the first murder Lamar county has seen since 2014.
