Governor Bryant signs new 'to-go cup' law, potential open containers in Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Governor Phil Bryant recently signed the 'to-go cup' law on Thursday.

The new law allows individuals to carry alcohol on certain premises within the city.

The city has to create a 'recreational district' plan before it is adopted.

If approved, the law can create revenue for the city of Hattiesburg. Historic Downtown's Executive Director Andrea Saffle is excited and mentions it will offer Hattiesburg a night life.

Saffle said, "The restaurants are excited about the idea, they can pair off each other."

If adopted Saffle hopes to create more outdoor events, like 'Live at Five'.
