HPSD holds public forum to search for new superintendent

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Hattiesburg Public School District (HPSD) will host a public forum Sunday at Hattiesburg High School. The forum will introduce the 3 superintendent candidates.
Director of Communications Jas N Smith said, "The candidates will have a few moments to discuss their qualifications."
Board members met last week to interview for a second time a handful of candidates for the superintendent's position. The board had previously narrowed the applicant pool from 31 to 10.
Smith said businesses and industries look at a city's school system to see if it wants to locate within the city. "It's important for the community, there is a vested interest in Hattiesburg whether or not they have students in the school" said Smith.
After the event residents can submit their feedback on each candidate.
