Paul B. Johnson State Park is ready for the 4th of July

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Paul B. Johnson State Park is having its 37th annual fireworks show Monday night and the park is gearing up for its big event.

Senior park administrator, Bill Sykes said, "It means the world to me. It's something that we can provide the community an amenity every year and we get to celebrate the Fourth of July."

Of course there will be great food at the show.

Big Boys BBQ owner, David Lawler said, "Supposed to have a lot of people out all day Monday, going to have some more food vendors out here, some snowballs, and maybe a few others. But we're looking forward to all the people who's going to be out here, and everybody just come out and enjoy the festivities."

Sykes said he's anticipating between 5,000-8,000 people to attend the big event.

"It's going to be a bigger and better show. As far as letting you know exactly what's going to be different, I'll leave that up to the guy that shoots it. He just changes everything up every year and adds a little more," said Sykes.

The fireworks show will be from 9-9:30p.m and the entry fee is $6 per car load.
