Local teacher prepares for C-SPAN Conference

PETAL, Miss. - One Petal Middle School teacher is one out of 30 educators across the country to be selected to attend this year's C-SPAN Classroom’s Educators Conference.

U.S. History teacher, Cathy Lee said, "I'm excited. I'm very honored to get to go this year and represent Mississippi and our school."

Lee will be learning several teaching strategies at the conference.

"I'm supposed to bring a lesson with me and they will teach me how to enhance that lesson. And they're just going to teach us what they have available, how to use it, how to edit video, how to do that kind of thing so we can incorporate it into our studies,” said Lee.

Lee's selection to attend this conference is no shocker, due to her teaching style.

"I work really hard to keep my lessons interesting and exciting and not just learning days. I like for my students to know the stories behind the people that made history,” said Lee.

The conference is from July 11-12.
