Lamar co. authorities arrest 5 in drug bust

LAMAR COUNTY, Miss. - Lamar county authorities arrested five people on various drug charges Wednesday morning. Sheriff Danny Rigel said, "We served a search warrant at a home in the 200 block of Munn Road in North Sumrall."

According to Sheriff Rigel it was the result of tips and complaints from the surrounding community.

"The people in the house were selling, we even caught one with possession of methamphetamine" said Sheriff Rigel.

Authorities recovered a felony amount of methamphetamine, Sheriff Rigel said.

He said the following suspects have been arrested and charged with the following:

  • Jonathan Bennie Crawford, 25 –charged with sale of controlled substance (meth)

  • Leroy Joseph Ellis, 44 –charged with sale of controlled substance (2) (meth)

  • James Mitchell Graham, 58 – charged with sale of a controlled substance (2) (meth)

  • Sandra Lucille Merrit, 53– charged with sale of controlled substance (meth)

  • Shena Elaine Taormina, 40 –charged with possession of a controlled substance (meth)

"I just want to thank the community for their help" added Sheriff Rigel.
