Hattiesburg Salvation Army helping Louisiana and Southwest MS flood victims

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Hattiesburg Salvation Army loaded up their Disaster Canteen to help flood victims in Louisiana and Southwest Mississippi Monday morning.

Crews loaded the truck with cleaning supplies, clothes, and food. Salvation Army Warehouse Manager, Matt Mcmullin said, "I am hoping to go down there and give people some relief of the flood."

The Hattiesburg crew will work for a week assisting other Salvation Army's and preparing meals.

Salvation Army Volunteer Coordinator Judy Lines said, "You stop and think when disaster hits here, people come here to help us as well, you never know when your needs will occur here."

Mcmullin said what goes around comes around. "People have lost a lot, I lost myself through Katrina and most recently a tornado, so my heart goes out to these people" said Mcmullin.

Salvation Army is taking donations and citizens are welcome to drop off food, clothes, and monetary donations anytime.
