City of Hattiesburg, HPD community conversation
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The City of Hattiesburg and the Hattiesburg Police Department will be having a public safety community conversation at Jackie Dole Community Center Tuesday night.
This community conversation will discuss several societal topics, including why there is so much tension and distrust with police and various communities throughout the country.
Mayor of Hattiesburg, Johnny DuPree said, "Police have to trust the community. The community has to trust the police department. Each one needs each other for it to survive."
"To give the community an opportunity to come and talk to us about how we police. And get the police to talk about how we interact with each other. It's kind of a no-hold bar kind of meeting. Giving people an opportunity to talk," said DuPree.
The community conversation will be from 6-7:30 p.m.
