Trial begins for the Bolton's, jury selected


HATTIESBURG, Miss. - After a week of postponement because of Reverend Kenneth Fairley's trial, the trial for both Forrest County Chief Deputy Charles Bolton and his wife Linda started Tuesday.

According to the indictment the couple each face five counts of filing false tax evasion.

The charges stem from returns the couple filed between 2010 and 2014.

Tuesday morning began the selection of the jurors and by lunch time the court selected 14 jurors total. The jury consists of two black females, four white females, two black males, and six white males.

Both prosecutors and defense team issued opening arguments late Tuesday afternoon.
