MS students celebrating National Arts Education week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Mississippi students are admiring the work they contributed to their school in honor of National Arts Education week.

Thanks to the Mississippi Arts Council (MAC), students learned different types of arts and the history of art.

One of MAC's mission is to help keep art alive in the education realm.

It believes firmly that arts is a necessary part of life and is essential in the education arena as it challenges both students and teachers in their critical thinking skills.

Board member of the of Mississippi Theater Association (MTA), Thomas Hardy said, "So many children do not have the opportunity to express themselves at home."

Hardy added, "I think it is important for children to know who they are and be able to express themselves."

Hard said MAC and MTA will continue to encourage arts in the education arena at all political forums.
