William Carey's telemedical drone has new advancements

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - William Carey has made some new advancements to its telemedical drone.

Co-developer, Dr. Italo Subbarao and his team recently partnered with folks from Hinds Community College, and things are looking good.

The telemedical drone has come a long way. Before, it was designed to help treat people who were affected by natural disasters.

Now, new advancements will allow the drone to help people who are in active shooter situations.

"You don't want to put somebody in harm's way. You can take the drone and you can transport the medical kit. And that can actually get into that hostile area and actually provide life-saving treatments," said Subbarao.

The kits have advanced its visual technology with Google Glass. This will enable emergency officials to see the critical injuries and communicate with the person.

Subbarao said "we also have an application that the provider can use to be able to actually note which bin the person should use. It's got blinking flashing lights in the bin corresponding to a given section. And then, the individual can take that tool and use it and apply it to help save a life."

The kit has various diagnostic elements, chest seals, and much more that will enable a people to be a hero.
