Toys for Tots gives 600 Pine Belt kids Christmas gifts

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Hundreds of low-income families in the Pine Belt received brand new toys this Christmas.

Forrest County Toys for Tots distributed 600 Christmas gifts to kids who otherwise would not celebrate Christmas.

The Toys for Tots program is a mission of the U.S Marine Corps Reserve to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community.

Toys for Tots Coordinator Janet Baldwin said the organization has been working the last three months to make it all happen.

“Wow, wow that is so awesome, I know that these kids, I have seen some of them, the smiles on their faces when they see that they have gifts, they are going to have gifts to open on Christmas morning" said Baldwin.

She added, "So that makes it all worth the hard work that it takes to do it.”
