Mayor Johnny Magee will run for re-election

LAUREL, Miss. - Mayor Johnny Magee held a press conference Wednesday to announce he will run for re-election.

Magee said "we've accomplished many things during the last 3.5 years, and I want to continue to build on what we already accomplished. Laurel is a great place. We have great people. And with these people working together, we can accomplish anything."

Mayor Magee has seen business and economic growth in Laurel. And if elected for a second term, he would want to continue to improve water and sewer lines under the streets, cleanliness, and much more.

"I believe I have led this city efficiently and professionally in the last 3.5 years. And, I believe that experience does matter. I love to help people and I feel satisfied when I'm able to help the citizens of the City of Laurel," said Magee.

Mayor Magee said there are no competitors currently running for mayor. For those who are interested in running, the qualifying deadline is March 3.

-The primary election is May 2

-The general election is June 6
