LPD's Mardi Gras fundraiser
LAUREL, Miss. - The Laurel Police Department's Fraternal Order of Police is having its "Crew of Blue" fundraiser in Saturday’s Mardi Gras Parade.
Laurel Police wants everyone to be a part of the Mardi Gras spirit and to help those who are less fortunate.
Laurel Police Officer, Sgt. Michael Reaves said, "The entry fees for the floats in the parade, 100 percent go to charitable giving's. And, that's mainly our shop with a cop program that we do every Christmas. So, those who have put floats in, they can rest assure that's going to go to help children in need in the community during Christmas. Obviously, it's going to be a family event and we encourage the public to come out and support us, and enjoy the parade."
There is a $500 prize for the best Mardi Gras float.
If you have a float and want to sign up, you can go to the Laurel Police Department before 12 p.m. Saturday to do so.
-The general entry fee is $50
-For your float to be judged is $100
The parade will be on the Christmas route and will start at 2 p.m.
