'Over the Edge' to help raise money for healthy local meals

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Over the Edge will take place Saturday at Hub Fest. Participants will rappel down the high-rise Carter building downtown to raise money for healthy meals.

Each participant is encouraged to raise $1,000 each to have a chance to 'go over the edge'.

Extra Table's Michael Dixon said in Forrest Co. alone there are 17,000 people who are food insecure.

Dixon said, "It means they don’t have access to the food they need to be healthy. These are kids that may have a school sponsored breakfast or lunch and not eat again until the next day."

He continued, "And so all of our food pantries and kitchen, they are really stepping into the gap to make sure those folks get the food that they need.”

Last year Extra Table raised more than $50,000. To learn how you can participate you can click here.
