Suspect apprehended on Baptist Association theft
JONES COUNTY, Miss. - The following is a press release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.
Around March 14, 2017, Jones County Sheriff’s Investigators were alerted to a missing utility trailer, used for disaster relief services by the Jones County Baptist Association. The trailer was filled with tools and supplies.
Shortly after taking over the case, investigators obtained information from a caller that provided specific details regarding the stolen property. The caller’s information was used to facilitate the investigation, which lead to suspect, Rusty Squires of Jackson.
The investigation also revealed an item was pawned at a Jackson, Mississippi pawn shop. A surveillance video surfaced, showing Squires pawning a ladder that matched the description on a list of items reported stolen in the trailer.
Squires was placed on the NCIC (National Crime Information Center) database and was subsequently identified at a routine traffic stop in DeSoto County, Mississippi on April 3, 2017. He was transported to the Jones County Adult Detention Center and charged with Grand Larceny. His initial appearance is scheduled for 3:30pm on April 4, 2017 at Jones County Justice Court.
