William Carey ranks as the safest campus in Mississippi

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - For the second time in two years, William Carey is ranked as the safest campus in Mississippi.

Last year, Backgroundchecks.org made that ranking. But this year, YourLocalSecurity ranked William Carey to be the safest campus in Mississippi.

YourLocalSecurity uses data and statistics from the FBI and U.S. Department of Education to rank each college campus in the country.

William Carey President, Dr. Tommy King said, "If you drive to this community where William Carey is located and just drive around in the neighborhood, it is an old neighborhood that's deteriorated somewhat in the recent years. And some people get the idea that it's not a safe place. And, so, these rankings should give parents and students a feeling of security that you can attend William Carey."

King said he thanks the faculty and security for making the campus a safe place for students to learn.
