LPD receives life-saving equipment
LAUREL, Miss. - The Laurel Police Department recently received an automatic external defibrillator from the Fraternal Order of Police.
Officers will soon go through training to properly use this type of life-saving equipment.
Laurel Police Officer, Sgt. Michael Reaves said, "We respond to a lot of calls, and a lot of times we arrive minutes before the ambulances are able to arrive. If someone is in cardiac arrest, obviously every minute counts. So, this is a valuable tool to resuscitate those individuals and hopefully save a life."
Reaves said he hopes officers will be able to have their new automatic external defibrillator in the streets in a couple of weeks.
