Hattiesburg Zoo to host Pirate Day this weekend
HATTIESBURG, MS. - The following is a press release from the Hattiesburg Zoo.
The Hattiesburg Zoo is hosting Pirate Days on Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pirate Days will offer several games aimed to please lads and lassies of all ages.
Daily activities include Walk the Plank, a buried treasure dig, a riddle-filled treasure map, and animal shows featuring the Zoo’s parrots and goats. Guests are highly encouraged to dress in pirate clothing and take pictures with the roaming pirates throughout the day.
“We are delighted to bring back Pirate Days for local buccaneers. Guests will enjoy unique and educational activities throughout the day, including completing the treasure map for a prize and learning about our animals through our daily show,” Jeremy Cumpton, education manager for Hattiesburg Zoo, said.
In addition to the Zoo’s Safari Grill established food and drink selections, special food and beverages will be available during Pirate Days. “We received great feedback from the Zoo’s Pirate Day last year. Due to popular demand, we are extending it for the entire weekend this year. We encourage families, scalawags, and the young at heart to come out for a blimey good time,” Rick Taylor, executive director of the Hattiesburg Convention and Tourism Commissions, said.
Admission is $5, and children under 2 are free. Tickets can be purchased at the gate the day of the event. Annual passes do apply.
