Andrew Shivers pulls out of House District 102 race
HATTIESBURG, MS. - Andrew Shivers, 31, announced Tuesday he will pull out of the House District 102 race. Shivers announced his candidacy last week.
He tells FOX 23 news, "After considering my chances in the current field of candidates. I've decided not to pursue the position any further."
He added, "The field is just too full of candidates with similar ideas. I have a one-year-old and would rather spend time with her." Shivers, an Ole Miss graduate, is a local insurance agent and said he will continue to spend time with his young family.
There are currently 4 contestants in the running. Kathryn Rehner, Cory Ferraez, Missy Warren McGee, and Casey Mercier.
Those seeking to run have until July 24 to turn in their qualifying paperwork.
