USO kicks-off back to school boot camp series

HATTIESBURG, MS. - The African American Military Museum kicked-off its 4th Annual Back to School Bootcamp series Wednesday.

Ten students learn military techniques and soft skills that can be practiced in their own lives.

Museum Manager Latoya Norman said, "They can be leaders, and we want them to know that what they do now really kind of sets the tone, and it pays for the future."

Students will learn about leadership and teamwork, hear from community leaders, and be given motivational tools to prepare for the upcoming school year.

"We want them to take school seriously, make good grades, because we want to prepare them for college, we want to prepare them for whatever lies after high school" said Norman.

The camp ends on Friday.
