Blood donors receive solar eclipse glasses, t-shirts

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - United Blood Services held a three-day "Eclipse" Blood Drive to encourage donors to become heroes.

In return, donors received solar eclipse glasses and a t-shirt.

Donor recruitment supervisor, Katie Martin said, "We are so excited about the response. It has been amazing. We had over 50 donors come out on Saturday, which quickly used our supply of glasses. Sunday was just as amazing, and today has been just as busy. So, we thank everybody that has come out to donate. We want to encourage people that this type of response is needed every single day to meet our patient needs. Day-in and day-out, we count on blood donors coming in to give that gift of life to make sure that blood is available for our patients."

Over 75 people donated between Saturday and Sunday.
