USM students view eclipse at campus viewing party

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - USM's Lucky Day program staff hosted an eclipse viewing party Monday afternoon on campus.

The staff provided card board boxes and paper viewers with pinholes, solar glasses and solar themed snacks including sun chips, starbursts and star crunch.

“I feel very privileged and grateful that I’m here at the eclipse because you know it only happens every 40 years. So the next time I will possibly be viewing this with my kids and grandchildren.” Katarina Kristensen, sophomore student said.

According to eclipsewise.com, in seven years the next solar eclipse will be visible in the US on April 8th, 2024.
