HPD officer honored for rescuing child from abuser

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Kids Hub Child Advocacy Center officials honored Hattiesburg Police Officer Na'aman Holmes Friday for rescuing an abused child.

On September 11, 2017 Holmes responded to a domestic violence call in Hattiesburg however, once he arrived on the scene he notice signs of a possible child abuse case.

“It doesn’t matter what kind...of call it is, we always look for signs that it maybe beyond the call when we respond. With this particular case here, just happy that the officer went beyond the call and was able to save a child.” said HPD officer, Lt. Allen Murray.

Kids Hub provides victim advocacy service to connect children and families to health and mental service they may need after a case such as child abuse.

"When officers pay attention to things that are happening to kids, then our multi-disciplinary team can react and respond in such a way that creates a whole systems of individuals that are protecting that child and providing services for that child,” said Kids Hub Executive Director, Didi Ellis.

HPD officials said they are committed and will continue to serve the community.
