A Jones County Man Charged With Molesting A Child At His Daycare

ELLISVILLE, MISS – A Jones County resident, Roy Parker made his way to his initial court hearing earlier this afternoon at the Jones County Justice Courthouse, Wednesday afternoon at 1PM.

“At this time, Mr. Parker is charged with one charge of molestation,” Jones County Sheriff’s Department, Major Jamie Tedford said.

Parker and his wife ran a local daycare from their house in Jones County.

“I don’t know how many kids they are responsible for keeping at one time… to our knowledge the Parkers have kept kids for many years at their residence,” Tedford said. “Like I said it is a private run home daycare.”

December 5, the Jones County Sheriff’s Department took Parker into custody after the parents of one child reported an incident of inappropriate behavior involving their daughter.

“There had been a forensic interview done of the minor child and based on the facts, circumstances, and evidence that the investigator of the Jones County Sheriff’s Department turned up… we arrested Mr. Parker yesterday.” Tedford said.

The judge charged Parker with one count of child molestation, and set his bail at 50,000 dollars.

Investigators are still looking into the case, which means there’s a possibility that Parker could receive even more charges. Parker remained silent and refused to answer questions from the media as authorities walked him back to the Jones County Jail.

At the moment, there have not been any charges brought against Parker’s wife. This is an on-going investigation.
