State Economist Dr. Darrin Webb Visits USM

HATTIESBURG, MISS. - The State Economist, Dr. Darrin Webb made an appearance at the USM's College of Business Economic Outlook Forum. During the forum Webb took the time to discuss Mississippi’s current financial state, and what could possibly happen in the future. "We’re going to see some improvement in 2018 over 2017. I think 2017 was a little better than 2016, and I think when we go look out years... We're looking at growth somewhere maybe not quite two-percent for the next few years. Not super strong growth, but it is an improvement over what we've seen in the past few years,” Webb explained. “We do for example think that 2017 was our third year of growth since the recession. We've struggled since the recession, but we do think 2017 was the third year of growth." Webb continued to mention that he expects Mississippi to make its fourth year of growth in 2018.
