Hattiesburg Zoo Seeing A Increase in Visitors this Spring Break

HATTIESBURG, MISS. – Spring break is here and school is out, which led to thousands of people standing in long lines waiting to pay their entry fee to the Hattiesburg Zoo, Wednesday morning.

“So, right now we’re head first into spring and summer... So this is our really, really busy season,” zoo guest services & retail manager, Demetric Kelly said. “Typically around March, April, and May we have a ton of people coming in for field trips, as well as our spring break activities.”

Also, with an admission price of only five dollars, the zoo is quickly becoming the new “get away” spot for spring break.

“The zoo is fun because you get to learn about animals and see them,” Casie Spears, a kid visitor at the zoo said.

“And the food is also fun,” Colton Spears, another child and relative of Casie Spears added.

Kids and their parents at the zoo spending quality time with each other, while looking at animals and enjoying food. However, kids are often quick to remind adults about what spring breaks means to them.

“Just having fun, and having a good time,” a child visitor, Cash Reid said.

“And seeing the animals,” Cash’s sister, Mazzei Reid added.

Ultimately taking a break from school just to have a little fun. The zoo is open Tuesday-Sunday from 10am-4pm. The Spring Break Celebration ends March 25.
