Sonic Shooting in Marion County

(The following press release comes from the Columbia Police Department)

On December 1st, 2018 at approximately 8 pm officers with the Columbia Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Department responded to Sonic Drive In on Highway 98, in reference to shots fired. Once officers were on scene they discovered two individuals had been shot; One, John Redd 39 from Columbia was still on scene and received immediate medical care by responding officers, a second Jeffrey Pace 21 from Columbia, was transported to Marion General Hospital by personal vehicle prior to officer’s arrival. It was also discovered that three males got into a physical altercation and shots were fired by two individuals, both Pace and Redd were later on transported to Forrest General Hospital. Within six hours officers arrested Corey Husband 30 from Columbia, for aggravated assault and it was discovered that he had been shot as well. Husband was seen by a judge on December 3rd, 2018 and was given a $20,000.00 bond. A warrant has been issued for Jeffrey Pace for aggravated assault and he will see a judge once he is picked up on that warrant. The Columbia Police Department would like to thank Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Mississippi Highway Patrol for all of their assistance in identifying and apprehending the suspects responsible.
