(The following is a press release from Saint John Lutheran Church in Hattiesburg.)

Saint John Lutheran Church of Hattiesburg is announcing the postponement of the 42nd annual Oktoberfest celebration which was to take place on October 2, 2021. “After much prayer and consideration for the safety and welfare of the general public, and for the volunteers from Saint John Lutheran Church, we have decided to postpone our Oktoberfest 2021 event in light of the COVID-19 pandemic,” according to spokesman Mark Keyl, the congregation's Board of Director's Vice President.

Oktoberfest at Saint John Hattiesburg is regularly the first Saturday in October each year. The annual event celebrates the German heritage of Saint John Lutheran Church and others in Hattiesburg, while the proceeds are given back to community outreach and mission work in the Pinebelt, United States, and several foreign countries.

Saint John Hattiesburg recognizes with thankfulness how the Pinebelt has supported this event for many years. The congregation’s intention is to continue to support the community and missions in 2021, as we have in the past. Anyone wishing to donate to this effort may do so by going to www.SaintJohnHattiesburg.com and clicking on the Oktoberfest tab or by contacting the church office at 601-583-4898.

We thank the Hattiesburg community for their continued support and look forward to seeing you on October 1, 2022, for Oktoberfest at Saint John Hattiesburg.
