Deep South Hurricanes place 7th, Wheelchair Softball World Series

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Deep South Hurricanes came back from their National Wheelchair Softball World Series in Biloxi this past Weekend.

The team unfortunately had a similar outing compared to last year's tournament, as they placed seventh again.

But no matter how they placed, they still had a blast.

First baseman, Sylvester Crosby said, "We didn't want to go into the D-2 bracket. So we had to do what we had to do to stay out of the D-2 bracket, and at least placing in the D-1 bracket."

"We all did better than what we expected, even though it rained. We're a better team now. We've been playing together for a couple of years, and we look forward to next year. We don't know exactly where it's going to be at next year, but as soon as we find out, we're going to be preparing to bring it to them next year," said Crosby.

Wheelchair softball may be over, but locals can still have smiles on their faces as wheelchair basketball, rugby, and tennis will be starting up soon.
