JCSD drop off site for donations, tornado victims

JONES COUNTY, Miss. - This is a press release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department understands the utter helplessness that surrounds those in Hattiesburg and Petal who are recovering from the devastating effects from the weekend tornado. We understand the efforts to recover and rebuild will not take place overnight, nor can it be done alone.

For those in the Jones County area that would like to make a donation to the efforts involved in the recovery and clean up endeavor in Forrest County, you may drop off items at the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, 419 Yates Avenue, Laurel, Mississippi (Downtown Laurel, directly behind the Courthouse). The office hours are 8AM – 5PM, Monday – Friday. Working with the Red Cross, specific items were requested:

*Tarps – any size

*Leather work gloves

*Hand sanitizer – any size

*Disinfectant wipes

*Ponchos – one size fits all

*Garbage bags – contractor size

*Water/Sports Drinks

Our prayers are with all involved, the victims, families, the first responders, rebuilders and volunteers. Thank you in advance for your continued support of our community and our neighbors.

For any additional information contact Allyson Knotts at 601-428-3151.
