HFD receives storm shelter

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Hattiesburg Fire Department will be getting a brand new storm shelter installed at the station located on North Main Street.

The donation was made by Torshel, and the department couldn't be more excited about it.

Hattiesburg Fire Chief, Paul Presley said, "It means a lot to us. As a fire department, I think after what happened Saturday morning, which the station did have a storm shelter, they just couldn't get to it in time. But for the guys up here, they been needing a storm shelter since the station's been built several years ago. So, it's going to be very beneficial. We got a crew of about seven people over here. So, it's going to be enough to fit into. Instead of waking up in the middle of the night concerned where we're going to go, now they have somewhere to go."

Chief Presley said the shelter the department is getting can fit up to ten people and is bulletproof.
