Ellisville businessman announces candidacy for mayor

ELLISVILLE, Miss. - Republican Danny Shows an Ellisville businessman and longtime resident announced his official candidacy to run for Ellisville mayor.

Shows made the announcement at the Ellisville courthouse Wednesday afternoon.

"I am actually excited, Ellisville does not get often to bring in new people to the city council. I think it is going to be a great time" said Shows.

"I think it is going to be a challenging time, that all of us as a city, and the elected officials are going to be tasked with, and they are going to enjoy it" he added.

Shows is campaigning to succeed the current Mayor Tim Waldrup who is not seeking a 5th term and plans to retire.

This is the first time in 8 years that Ellisville has had two or more Mayoral candidates. According to the Ellisville City Clerk, Charma Cook, two other Republicans have filed to run too.

Kathy Pool and Lynn Buckhaults have officially filed papers with the city.

Mayor Tim Waldrup has been the Mayor of Ellisville the last 16 years.
