Ms. Wheelchair Mississippi passing her crown, will continue to speak at engagements

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The 2016-2017 Miss Wheelchair Mississippi is passing her crown to the incoming winner next Friday in Madison, Mississippi.

Lisa Ann Redd makes it her mission to inform the public about people with disabilities. Redd is a Special Education teacher and works to bring equality on and off playgrounds for children.

“I have always been passionate about helping people" said Redd.

Redd said the past year raising awareness at speaking engagements has brought joy to her life knowing she is making a difference educating the public.

She continued, "This was a much bigger platform I was able to help, people with disabilities and show them, don’t let your problems keep you down.”

Although she will be 'former' Miss Wheelchair Mississippi in less than a week, Redd said she will continue to speak at events and pursue her platform.

Miss Wheelchair America will be held in Pennsylvania in August.
