Petal ranks as the safest city in Mississippi

PETAL, Miss. - Petal has been named the safest city in Mississippi.

The National Council for Home Safety and Security and Crime Reports concluded this ranking after the first six months of 2016.

Chief of Petal Police, Leonard Fuller said, "I'm extremely proud of the City of Petal for being the number one safest city in Mississippi. In the past, we've ranked in the top one or two for the last several years. I attribute that to the men and women of the Petal Police Department for going out there and being proactive with their job. However, we couldn't do it without community involvement. The community has been very helpful with providing us with tips."
