City to host disABILITY Awareness Day

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The city will host its 2nd Annual DisABILITY Awareness Wednesday at the Jackie Dole Center downtown.

The event will offer blood pressure and cholesterol testing, and even legal counsel.

“First of all so the community can be aware of the needs of the disabled population" said Lakeylah White DisABILITY Coordinator.

She added, "It is also important because we will connect disabled individuals with resources that’s available to them that they might not be aware of.”

The city said there will be 15 centers available that will provide information on supportive living assistance, insurance coverage, and housing assistance.

The event starts at 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
